Edwards goes into depth about the love of learning phase, breaking it down into 3 levels which correspond to the developmental levels of Piaget. I was greatly helped by her insights into the needs of children ages 8 to 14 and how best to work with them. She advocates holding short 6 week classes and gives examples of classes her group offered for Love of Learners. After reading her book I began confidently planning a group for my kids. I already know two more classes I want to hold this school year. I don't have a large homeschool community as Edwards does but I easily adapted her suggestions to my personal situation.Product details

If you are a Homeschool family using Leadership Education I highly recommend this book. It walks you through developing a learning community for your children the in Love of Learning Stage. The project outlines are a thorough. Perhaps the most helpful section is on the stages of Love of Learning & teaching methods that are most effective with this group. It has really inspired me to develop a community in my area!
LOLIPOP, by Amy Edwards, has been instrumental in helping our school teachers plan projects that cater to what 8-14 year olds need to be learning, namely, how to learn. I also attended a seminar given by Ms. Edwards that used hands on examples of how students can learn from different activities. I highly recommend both her book and her seminar to anyone who wants to help kids learn HOW to learn. They can only move on to true studying after they've mastered the process of learning.
This book really got me excited about doing longer projects with my kids and their co-op friends, to delve into subjects deeper and more concretely than we've been doing with single day activities. I'm purchasing copies for all the moms in our group. I highly recommend this book!
